Oculoplastic surgery is a subspecialty of ophthalmology dedicated to surgical procedures involving the eyelids, orbits (eye sockets), lacrimal (tear) system, and the periocular area. These interventions aim not only to improve appearance but – more importantly – to restore ocular health and function.

Service description

Most common types of oculoplastic procedures

1. Eyelid surgery

  • Blepharoplasty – removal of excess skin and fat from the eyelids to enhance appearance and improve the visual field.

  • Correction of eyelid drooping (ptosis) – restoration of normal eyelid position to prevent it from covering the pupil.

  • Ectropion and entropion repair – procedures to correct inward or outward turning of the eyelid margin to protect the eye from irritation.

2. Lacrimal system surgery

  • Procedures to restore tear duct patency, such as dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), performed in patients with chronic tearing.

3. Orbital surgery

  • Removal of orbital lesions (cysts, tumors).

  • Orbital reconstruction following trauma or in cases of congenital deformities.

4. Reconstructive and aesthetic procedures

  • Eyelid reconstruction after trauma or oncologic surgery.

  • Procedures that enhance the appearance of the eye area, often accompanied by an improvement in the protective function of the eyelids.
